The variety belongs to the traditional and rare grape varieties of the Galicia region. As a result of ampelographic research and molecular marker analysis, it was identified as an independent variety and included in the Spanish National Catalogue of Commercial Grape Varieties.

The variety has the status of a wine grape and is included in the list of primary varieties for the Ribeiro wine region. The grapes are well adapted to local soil and climatic conditions, and the wines produced from them are characterized by a high terpene content, which forms a unique aromatic profile.
