The variety has a medium ripening period, occurring in mid-September. The vines have medium vigor, are characterized by good shoot maturation and medium to low yield. The flower is hermaphroditic. The bunch is medium-sized, cylindrical or cylindrical-conical in shape, dense or very dense. The berry is medium-sized, round, dark violet or dark blue in color with juicy flesh.

The grapevine leaf is small, round, five-lobed, deeply cleft, with dense pubescence on the underside and an open, vaulted petiolar sinus. The variety is susceptible to grey mold. In literature, Braquet should not be confused with the Italian variety Brachetto; modern ampelographers classify them as different varieties.
