The Defensor variety (designated as Defensor B) was obtained as a result of breeding work based on the crossing of Chancellor and Riesling varieties. The genetic material was adapted in Portugal to create vineyards requiring reduced use of pesticides.
This variety is classified as resistant to fungal diseases (PIWI), including downy mildew and powdery mildew. Currently, Defensor is used in breeding programs to develop new hybrids in conjunction with traditional Portuguese grape varieties.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
