Variety description

The variety is of Provençal origin and is genetically related to the Muscardin variety. The bunches are large, cylindro-conical, often with wings and curved peduncles. The berries are medium-sized or larger, dark blue in color, with thick, tough skin and juicy pulp of simple flavor.

The variety belongs to late ripening groups and requires short pruning. It has relatively good resistance to powdery mildew, however, it is highly susceptible to downy mildew and gray mold. In cold and humid climates, it ripens poorly.

Wines from this grape are characterized by weak color, low acidity, and low alcohol content. The variety is rare but is included in the official French catalogue. It is important to avoid confusion with the Braquet Noir variety, which is sometimes designated as Pécoui Touar du Var.
