The variety is of French origin from Burgundy and was introduced to Central Europe several centuries ago. It is intended exclusively for winemaking, allowing for the creation of wines ranging from dry to sweet, including ice wine and straw wine types. The variety belongs to the moderately early maturity group.
The clusters of the variety are small or medium-sized, cylindrical in shape, and often have "wings" and a dense arrangement of berries. The color of the berries varies from grey-pink to bluish-green. Wines produced from it are characterized by high extractivity and a full-bodied taste with aromas of honey, nuts, peach, quince, or flowers.
The variety is susceptible to classic grape diseases, such as powdery mildew and chlorosis. It does not possess specific immunity characteristic of modern hybrids and requires standard professional care.
