The variety is the result of a cross between Castets and form I-35-9 6/28, which includes Teinturier du Cher, Aleatico, and Pukhlyakovsky in its genetic composition. It is a black wine variety characterized by high yield.

The plant possesses resistance to frost and grey mold, but exhibits susceptibility to powdery mildew. The grape requires mandatory training to a trellis.

Wines from this variety are distinguished by a rich dark red color, velvety tannins, and good aging potential. The flavor profile is dominated by notes of blackcurrant, cherry, spices, and vanilla. It is often used in blends to improve the structure and color of the beverage.
