The Vriesea variety «Cupido», also known as «Pico Cupido», is a compact plant with a height of 30 to 40 cm, in individual cases reaching 50–60 cm. The plant's leaves have a dark green color and a width of 4–5 cm.

The inflorescence is formed by bracts of a red-dark-purple shade. Commercial catalogs for this variety mention the use of 13 cm diameter pots.
