The plant forms the rosette structure characteristic of Vriesea. It is distinguished by a bright inflorescence consisting of red-yellow bracts. The leaves are typically glossy and may have a striped pattern.

The plant is used as an ornamental foliage and flowering plant for interior decoration. The variety is sensitive to waterlogging of the substrate, which can lead to rotting.
