The Draco variety is an herbaceous bromeliad. Its inflorescences are spike-shaped and are often branched. The bracts are red with yellow-orange speckles. The plant has a sweet fragrance.
The leaves of the variety are elongated with pointed tips, measuring 20–25 cm in length, with a solid green color. The plant is intended for cultivation as an ornamental indoor crop.
