Plants reach a height of 1.9–2.0 meters. When sown in April, the crop matures by the end of August. The ear is cylindrical in shape, 20–25 cm in length and approximately 35 mm in diameter.
The variety belongs to the flint type group, and its name reflects the presence of eight rows of kernels on the ear. The product is traditionally used for preparing polenta and flour for local confectionery.
Being the result of long-term folk selection, the variety is currently undergoing procedures for inclusion in registries for the conservation of genetic resources and biodiversity.
