This variety belongs to the flint corn group. The name of the variety indicates the characteristic structure of the cob, which contains exactly eight rows of kernels. The plant is the result of many years of natural and artificial selection under specific environmental conditions.
The plant reaches a height of 1.9–2 meters. The cob has a cylindrical shape, its length is 20–25 cm with a diameter of about 35 mm. The kernels have a hard, vitreous endosperm. The corn belongs to a medium maturity cycle: when sown in April, the harvest is ready by the end of August.
