The lily flower stalk is a stem that serves as a key morphological trait in cultivar testing, evaluated based on its height and strength.

During lily cultivar testing, the flower stalk length is measured from the soil surface to the top of the inflorescence. Based on height, plants are classified as dwarf (less than 50 cm), medium (50–100 cm), and tall (more than 100 cm), although modern hybrids can reach 2 meters.

Flower stalk strength is an important indicator of lodging resistance against wind and precipitation. Development of the flower stalk during bulb storage is considered an undesirable process, as it depletes nutrient reserves, weakens the plant, and increases its susceptibility to diseases.
