Determinacy in white lupin is a plant architectural trait characterized by limited stem branching, which ensures uniform ripening, a compact habit, and improved suitability for mechanized harvesting.

Determinate forms of white lupin are characterized by limited first-order branching, unlike indeterminate varieties capable of producing higher-order shoots over an extended period. In a number of determinate types, particularly epigonous ones, the development of lateral branches is replaced by the formation of axillary flowers, which alters the overall plant structure.
This trait directly affects agronomic practices and productivity: determinate varieties are distinguished by increased lodging resistance and a vegetative period shortened by 8–17 days. Due to more uniform ripening and natural leaf abscission, such plants are better adapted to mechanized harvesting; however, they require optimization of seeding rates to compensate for the shift in yield formation to the main stem and first-order shoots.
