Lactuca sativa L.
Tracheomycotic wilt of lettuce caused by the soil-borne fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lactucae. The disease affects the plant's vascular system, leading to yellowing, loss of turgor, and death.

The causal agent of the disease is the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lactucae, which includes four main races: Fol: 1, 2, 3, and 4. The pathogen exhibits high variability, as evidenced by the identification of new isolates capable of overcoming the resistance of existing varieties.
Key symptoms of infection include chlorosis and unilateral wilting, which begin to appear from the 3–4 true leaf stage. A diagnostic sign is the browning of the vascular tissue on a cross-section of the stem. The disease develops most intensely at a soil temperature of approximately +27...+28°C.
Breeding efforts are aimed at developing hybrids resistant to combinations of pathogen races. In official catalogs, resistance is indicated by marker designations such as Fol: 1, Fol: 1–4, or Fusarium Defense, which confirms the presence of genetic protection against the corresponding types of the fungus.
