Cultivating Cortaderia selloana in containers requires large, stable planters capable of supporting the significant size of the plant, which can reach 2–3 meters in height. The use of mobile platforms is a prerequisite for the convenience of transporting the plant to sheltered locations in regions where the climate does not permit outdoor overwintering.

Agrotechnical requirements include the use of well-drained substrate and regular irrigation during the active growing season. In winter, irrigation is reduced, and the plant is kept in a bright or dry area with temperatures above freezing. Due to the restricted root volume, the growth of pampas grass slows down, necessitating periodic repotting into larger containers. Additionally, the physical characteristics of the plant must be taken into account: due to the sharp, cutting edges of the leaves, containers should be placed away from high-traffic areas.
