For hellebores, it is critical to choose deep containers that accommodate the development of their vigorous root system and provide high-quality drainage to prevent water stagnation, which is detrimental to fleshy roots. The substrate must be loose and nutrient-rich, with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction; however, peat moss is not recommended. In container conditions, plants react negatively to the disturbance of the root ball, so transplanting should only be performed when absolutely necessary.

Agrotechnology involves a seasonal change in growing conditions: during the winter-spring period, hellebores require intensive lighting, whereas in summer, protection from direct sunlight is necessary to prevent scorching and dehydration. In commercial production, the optimal container volume is considered to be in the range of 2.4 to 7.5 liters. It is important to observe planting times, as moving the plant in autumn can trigger a lack of flowering in the first year after the change of conditions.
