Forage value of hybrid ryegrass

Lolium x hybridum Hausskn.

Hybrid ryegrass combines the high yield potential of Italian ryegrass with the winter hardiness and longevity of perennial ryegrass, ensuring high dry matter digestibility in silage and haylage.

Depending on the intended use, three biotypes of hybrid ryegrass are distinguished: multi-cut with an erect habit, pasture with dense turf, and intermediate. Intensive management of stands and fertilizer application allow the crop to consistently provide quality forage for livestock farms.
