Hibiscus rosa-sinensis requires monitoring of moisture levels directly in the root zone; the optimal guideline for watering is when the top 2–3 cm of soil has dried out. Irregular watering leads to critical consequences: overwatering triggers root rot and the development of pathogens, while underwatering causes the shedding of buds and leaves.
