Red cabbage in open field conditions demonstrates high responsiveness to soil fertility, preferring loamy or peaty substrates. The crop's developed root system allows it to tolerate short-term droughts more effectively compared to white cabbage; however, regular irrigation is necessary for head formation. An important biological feature is the dependence of leaf color on soil acidity: reddish hues appear in acidic conditions, while the color shifts to bluish in alkaline environments.
