Variety traits
Productivity is the biological potential of a variety realized under specific growing conditions. It reflects the ability of a variety to produce a yield depending on agronomic practices, climate, and soil fertility.
Mentioned in descriptions 27 845 varieties reference book.
The productivity of a variety is a characteristic of its biological potential, which manifests itself through interaction with production conditions. It is divided into potential yield, possible under ideal environmental parameters, and actual (planned) yield, which depends on the actual level of agronomic practices, seed quality, and the climatic characteristics of a specific year. The choice of a variety is based on the correspondence of its genetic capabilities to the intensity level of technologies used on the farm.
Yield metrics in centners or tons per hectare are used to assess productivity, and in greenhouses, in kilograms per square meter. Since crop moisture content at harvest can vary, data is recalculated to a standard moisture content to ensure accurate varietal comparison. This complex trait is formed from yield structure elements, such as stand density, grain per ear, thousand kernel weight, and plant survival.
Productivity assessment during variety testing is conducted in comparison with a standard variety on plots with multiple replications to ensure data reliability. For statistical confirmation of differences, analysis of variance methods are used at a 95% confidence level. A condition for recommending a variety for introduction is its statistically significant superiority over the standard in productivity or other economically useful traits, with an increase of 8–10% considered a substantial basis for further study.
Selection based on the description text, not official resistance ratings: such data is not available in registers. Mention indicates that the trait is discussed in the variety's sources; see the variety's profile for details on what is specifically stated.
