A fungal disease of tomato caused by Septoria lycopersici, characterized by the appearance of small spots with dark margins and black pycnidia, leading to premature defoliation.

The disease is caused by the imperfect fungus Septoria lycopersici Speg. The pathogen primarily affects leaves, starting from the lower tiers; however, if the infection intensity is high, it can spread to petioles, stems, sepals, and fruits.

Off-white or grayish spots with a diameter of 2–3 mm and a dark margin form on the leaf surface. A characteristic diagnostic feature is the formation of numerous black fungal fruiting bodies, or pycnidia, in the center of the spots. Disease progression causes the spots to coalesce, leading to yellowing and desiccation of the leaves, which results in significant yield losses of up to 30–50%.
