Cultivation
Crocosmia Planch.
An agronomic characteristic that defines the harvesting technology for Crocosmia flower stalks with successive bud opening and their vase life potential.
In the reference 4 varieties crop Montbretia, where this is mentioned in the description.
Crocosmia is harvested at the stage when the first or a maximum of three lower flowers have opened, provided that the remaining buds on the inflorescence are already colored. A later harvest stage significantly shortens the overall decorative period of the plant in a vase, which ranges from 7 to 18 days when conditions are met.
The inflorescence architecture of Crocosmia consists of curved, branched flower stalks with tubular flowers arranged in a zigzag pattern. Due to the high strength of the stems, the plant is used as linear material in floral arrangements, and its ability to continue opening buds makes it a viable alternative to seasonal crops.
