Dry matter — soybean

Glycine max (L.) Merr.

This indicator in soybeans is divided into an analytical characteristic of grain nutritional value calculated on an absolutely dry weight basis and a physiological parameter of biomass accumulation as an indicator of photosynthetic efficiency and yield potential.

In the reference 32 varieties crop Soybean, where this is mentioned in the description.

In commercial production, the protein and oil content in soybeans is evaluated based on absolutely dry matter. This eliminates the influence of grain moisture, which varies significantly, and allows for an objective comparison of the nutritional value of different lots and varieties. Typical protein content in soybeans calculated on an absolutely dry matter basis ranges from 35–48%.

As a productivity indicator, dry matter reflects the efficiency of the realization of a variety's genetic potential and symbiotic nitrogen fixation processes. The key parameter here is the harvest index, which represents the ratio of the dry mass of beans to the total dry mass of the plant. For modern varieties, the target value for the harvest index is considered to be 40–45%.
