Brassica oleracea L. (White Cabbage Group)

The marketability of white cabbage is calculated as the ratio of the weight of heads meeting GOST requirements for density, shape, weight, and lack of defects to the total biological yield. Assessment is carried out at harvest by sorting the heads and separating non-marketable produce affected by diseases, necroses, or mechanical damage.
For modern F1 hybrids, high marketability rates range from 90% to 98%, while values below 70–80% are considered unsatisfactory for intensive production. Low marketability is often due to poor hybrid uniformity, infestation with Fusarium wilt or bacterial soft rot, as well as cultivation technology errors, such as uneven irrigation or nutrient deficiencies.
High marketability ensures the economic efficiency of cultivation by reducing the percentage of waste and pre-sale preparation costs. An important aspect is the maintenance of marketability after the storage period, which determines the shelf life of hybrids and the ability to ensure stable product supplies to the market.
