Rye yield is a key productivity indicator in variety trials, ranging from 40-45 dt/ha for average values to 100-130 dt/ha for hybrids. Its assessment includes the calculation of environmental plasticity and variety stability under various cultivation conditions.

Productivity assessment of rye is conducted within the framework of competitive variety trials on 25 m plots with four-fold replication. Depending on the variety type, indicators vary significantly: traditional diploid varieties yield 30–70 dt/ha, whereas the potential of hybrid rye in zones with sufficient moisture reaches 100–130 dt/ha, and the genetic maximum exceeds 200 dt/ha. When cultivated for green fodder, target green mass yield indicators are 300–350 dt/ha.

High yield indicators, exceeding 60 dt/ha, require the use of short-stemmed varieties or growth regulators to prevent crop lodging. The rye yield indicator is also a determining factor for profitability, considering the crop's ability to efficiently utilize less fertile soils with reduced costs for mineral fertilizers and pesticides compared to wheat.
