Sesamum indicum L.
Sesame yield represents the volume of seeds per unit area, ranging from 0.3–0.5 t/ha under rainfed conditions to 1.5–2.0 t/ha on irrigated land using intensive cultivation technologies.

Sesame productivity indicators depend on the biological characteristics of the cultivar, including resistance to capsule dehiscence and diseases, as well as cultivation conditions. In unfavorable rainfed conditions, the yield is 3–5 dt/ha, whereas in irrigated crops it reaches 1.0–1.5 t/ha, and when using advanced breeding lines, it can reach 2.0 t/ha or more.
The main factors limiting the realization of genetic yield potential are the availability of productive moisture and the temperature regime. Sharp temperature fluctuations during early growth stages or frosts during the ripening period can reduce the yield by half. In breeding practice, yield is evaluated based on the results of field trials with a correlation of biometric indicators, such as plant height, the number of capsules, and the 1000-seed weight.
