Fragaria x ananassa Duchesne ex Rozier

Strawberry cultivation in protected environments is based on the use of everbearing varieties with photoperiod control, the introduction of artificial pollination by bumblebees, and the application of soilless technologies.

For protected cultivation, everbearing or day-neutral varieties are preferred, allowing the harvest period to be extended to 6–8 months. Flowering is managed by regulating the photoperiod to 16 hours. In the absence of natural pollinators, the use of bumblebees is most effective, ensuring high-quality berry set even under unfavorable temperature conditions.

Technology is often based on hydroponic methods in hanging containers or gutters, which eliminates contact between the fruit and the ground. The nutrient regime requires maintaining the electrical conductivity of the solution at 1.0–1.5 mS/cm and a pH of 5.5–6.0, while the plants are sensitive to iron deficiency. Production success depends on the use of high-quality, disease-free planting material, such as frigo seedlings, and strict humidity control for the prevention of fungal infections.
