The variety is a bulb onion originating from the city of Abbeville in France. The bulb is characterized by a medium size and a flattened shape. The outer color is dark red with a wine shade, while the inner flesh has an intense glossy red color.

The plant prefers light, moderately rich soils. The variety is sensitive to excess moisture and does not tolerate the application of fresh organic fertilizers. The produce is suitable for consumption in raw and cooked form, in particular, it is used in local cuisine for preparing blood pudding.
