The variety forms large, regular round-shaped bulbs with silvery-white outer scales. The bulb flesh has a tender texture and a mild, sweet taste.
When grown for calçots, the bulbs undergo a specific two-stage cycle: after planting in the soil, the emerging shoots are hilled for blanching the base. From one bulb, 4 to 7 shoots without tough fibers are typically obtained.
Sowing of seeds for bulbs is carried out in the period from autumn to spring. The variety is the primary material for the production of products protected by the geographical indication "Calçot de Valls".
