Variety description

10 August 2026

Longton F1 belongs to autumn leek varieties with a harvest period from early October until the onset of frosts. The plant has a medium or slow development rate and forms an erect rosette of dark-colored leaves.

The pseudostem of the variety reaches a length of about 50 cm with a diameter of 25–30 mm. The plant does not have frost resistance, but is characterized by high resistance to thrips damage. A distinctive feature is the easy cleanability of the outer leaves and the base of the stem.

The variety is intended for fresh market sale, as well as for processing, including drying and freezing. It is often used for packaging.
