Lungo d’inverno is a leek variety group with a long and slender stem. With proper hilling, the length of its white part can reach 60 centimeters. The plant possesses a tender texture with a low lignin and fiber content, and is also distinguished by a sweet, delicate flavor.
This leek type is late-maturing and possesses high frost resistance, which allows it to be left in the ground for gradual harvesting during the winter period. It is used primarily in fresh form or as an ingredient for various culinary dishes.
