The variety is adapted to local agroclimatic conditions, in particular to the karst fields of Dalmatia. Historically, it is valued for its taste qualities and intense aroma.

Traditionally, the variety was grown for own consumption and local markets. Previously, garlic of this variety was used in the pharmaceutical industry; currently, efforts are directed towards its conservation and popularization as part of the agricultural heritage.
