The Vetrovsky variety is a historical variety classified in international genetic resource databases as an old variety. In specialized reports from 1969 and 1979, the variety appears in comparative studies of yield and morphology alongside other tall oatgrass varieties.

The plant is a perennial loose-bunchgrass with stem heights from 100 to 150 cm. At present, the variety is the subject of repatriation and genetic material conservation efforts in Czech collections.
