The variety belongs to the category of fodder kale and is classified as a traditional local variety (landrace) common in Spain. The plant is distinguished by its large size and ability to reach a height of 1.5 to 2 meters under favorable growing conditions.

The plant possesses high resistance to low temperatures. A characteristic feature is the possibility of continuous leaf harvesting as it grows. The main purpose of the crop is to use the outer leaves as livestock feed, although in local Galician cuisine, the consumption of inner leaves as food is permitted.
