The variety forms rosettes 50 to 90 cm in height. The dark green fleshy leaves are characterized by strong crinkling. The vegetable's flavor improves after the first frosts due to the accumulation of sugars.

The plant possesses good cold hardiness and is capable of withstanding temperatures down to -15 °C. The harvest is collected gradually, cutting leaves from the bottom up during the period from October to February. The variety is an heirloom open-pollinated type.
