The Scarrossa variety is characterized by a purple-pink leaf color, a sweet taste, and a compact growth habit. Due to its unusual coloration, it has been used both in culinary applications and as a decorative or salad option, allowing for wider spacing during planting to optimize yield.
Currently, the variety is considered to be replaced by the hybrid Scansie F1. The new version possesses improved bolting resistance and a reduced number of atypical green plants in the population.
