The Martina variety is a compact shrub with upright shoots, reaching a height of 25–30 cm and a width of 30–45 cm. The foliage is small, scale-like, and dark green. The plant is characterized by slow growth with an annual increment of about 1.5–2 cm.
The flowers are gathered in dense spike-like inflorescences and remain as closed buds of a rich dark purple or reddish-violet shade for a long time. The variety is mid-early; flowering continues from August to October.
The plant is resistant to diseases, pests, and adverse weather factors such as rain and frost. Winter hardiness corresponds to USDA zones 4–7, withstanding temperature drops down to -23°C…-29°C. It is used in landscape design and container gardening.
