The nuts of this variety have a reddish hue and normal gloss. The cupules (burs) are distinguished by spines of medium length. Due to the high quality of the nuts, the variety is classified as the "marrón" type, which makes it suitable for the production of jams, purées, flour, and marron glacé.
The variety is a local ecotype adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of Asturias. The plant acts as an effective pollinator in Castanea sativa plantations.
