The Bojana variety represents a local genetic resource of Castanea sativa. It was identified and studied during research projects in the Piedmont region, Italy, with the aim of selecting clones for breeding.
Scientific data on this variety are mainly limited to genetic analysis of the population using SSR markers and general assessment according to UPOV standards. Detailed descriptions of agronomic properties, including maturity dates or disease resistance, are not presented.
