The Herria variety is a local crop of the Basque lands. The medium-sized fruits belong to the marron type, which are highly valued in confectionery.

The variety is characterized by a late ripening period and a late period of female flower receptivity. For successful fruiting, the tree often requires cross-pollination; neighboring wild specimens are recommended as partners.
