This variety is a perennial deciduous monoecious plant. The name originates from the Danish town of Holstebro, and the specification “Gul” translates from Danish as “yellow”.

The variety is mentioned in lists of regional Scandinavian forms of Castanea sativa, however, detailed agronomic characteristics, data on fruit quality and disease resistance are absent in open sources.
