The Insetina variety, also known as Ceccone, is a local variety of Castanea sativa originating from the province of Lucca. This variety is included in the Italian national register as a significant biodiversity resource.
The primary purpose of the variety is the production of fruit for making chestnut flour. Insetina is part of the genetic pool used for the production of the Farina di Neccio della Garfagnana product with a Protected Designation of Origin.
