ActiveCastanea sativa Mill. · Sweet chestnut
PEDRO URQUIJO LANDALUCE
10 August 2026
The variety forms a large tree and is characterized by early bearing. Fruit maturity occurs in the mid-late period. The yield of the variety directly depends on the regularity of pruning; without proper care, the tree is prone to heavy fruiting, which leads to a reduction in nut size.
The fruits of the variety are distinguished by excellent taste and very easy separation of the pellicle from the kernel. This is a key property for the food industry, as the absence of skin residue prevents the appearance of bitterness in the finished product. The variety is demanding of soil moisture and poorly tolerates dry periods, during which a significant decrease in yield is observed.
