Marrone di Bruzolo is not a product of directed breeding, but rather the result of many years of natural selection and folk breeding in the Province of Turin. This ecotype is grouped together with chestnuts from San Giorio, Meana, Mattie, and Villar Focchiardo.
Product quality is regulated by general requirements for the regional brand Marrone della Valle di Susa. These include standards for nut size, not exceeding 85 nuts per 1 kg, and a limit on the content of nuts with divided seeds at no more than 10 percent.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
