The variety is traditional to Italy and is widespread in the Campania region, particularly in the municipalities of Moschiano and Forino. It received its name in honor of the locality of the same name in this region.

The fruit is medium or large in size with a dark brown shell. The flesh is yellowish on the outside and whitish on the inside, distinguished by a firm and crunchy texture.
