The variety is a local ecotype widespread in the Umbria region (Italy). In some classifications, it is assigned to the Marrone Umbro group, yet it stands out as a separate subject of study due to specific morphological differences.

Studies have shown that the net photosynthesis level of this variety is higher than that of the hybrid variety Marigoule. Photosynthetic activity depends on phenological phases and reaches its maximum during the period of active fruit growth, with the presence of fruits stimulating photosynthetic activity in leaves on illuminated shoots.

The purpose of the variety is to produce fruit for consumption. In scientific literature, it appears both in lists of Castanea sativa varieties and as a possible hybrid.
