The variety is an autochthonous genotype distributed in the Trás-os-Montes and Beira Interior regions. The fruits have a light brown color with thin stripes, and their size is approximately 60–70 nuts per 1 kg.
The plant is characterized by good adaptability to local conditions and hardiness. The variety is used in the production of products with protected geographical indications, such as «Castanha dos Soutos da Lapa».
