The RAPADA variety is a traditional clone selected in the folk culture of Galicia. The fruits of this chestnut have a dark brown color and are distinguished by good consumer properties, in particular, they are easy to peel, which facilitates processing.

Morphologically, the fruits of the variety are characterized by the presence of relatively short spines on the cupule. The variety is used both in mixed plantings for harvest and as a pollinator for other varieties. Genetically, RAPADA is considered part of the Mediterranean chestnut gene pool.
