The variety is a local ecotype that historically formed in the volcanic zone of Roccamonfina. It is included in the list of varieties that meet the standards of the Protected Geographical Indication and is intended for both fresh and dried consumption.

The fruits are of medium size, with no more than 110 pieces per 1 kg. The shape is usually asymmetrical, approaching spherical. The thin, brown pericarp is adorned with dark stripes, and the milky-colored kernel is characterized by a crunchy texture and a moderately sweet taste.
