The variety is a dwarf form with an annual growth rate of 5–10 cm. The mature tree reaches a height of 1.5–4 meters with a crown width of 1.2–2 meters. The crown is dense and compact, spherical in shape. Distinctive features are the "zigzag", twisted shoots and shiny dark green serrated leaves.

In June–July, the tree blooms with yellow-white catkin inflorescences. The variety is not self-fertile and requires another plant for cross-pollination. The fruits ripen in October; they are edible and have sweet flesh, though they are smaller than those of the typical species. The tree prefers well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral soils.
